"Lame Excuses"

Have you ever known that person who has a lame excuse as to why they are not successful at anything?

I learned something this past week from Coach Cal in an interview that he gave after his Kentucky basketball team lost their first game of the season to the South Carolina Gamecocks. After their rise to the top and becoming the #1 team in the nation, the criticism that some players received after this loss was relentless in some cases. But I loved what Coach Cal said in his interview. He said, the guys got out hustled and I got out coached. We're gonna look at our mistakes and learn from them. He didn't solely blame himself, the guys on the floor, or the guys sitting on the bench for their loss. It was a whole team effort. I admired him for that statement. He offered no lame excuses. No matter what we do in life, we need to realize that lame excuses are not acceptable.

If we are on a team, we need to work our hardest to become the best individual we can be for the benefit of the team. That takes hard work and committment during the season, as well as, in the off season. We don't have the right to blame anyone else as to why we are not the best. That's a lame excuse. Whether we are on the basketball team, cheer team, dance team, football team, soccer team, baseball team, softball team, track team, academic team, and the list could go on and on, we need to take accountability for how hard we work.

This also applies in the work place and in the home. Whether we are an employee or a family member, we are to do our jobs. We can't blame our boss, our coworkers, our husband or wife, for us not giving 100% to the job or to our homes. That's a lame excuse.

And as to our service to God, He does not like lame excuses as to why we can't serve Him either. If we are saved by the grace of God, we are to serve Him.

Be successful in life. Work hard no matter what you do...QUIT OFFERING UP LAME EXCUSES!
