My grandmother, Alberta Fox, died when I was 16 years old...that was 27 years ago. And there is never a Christmas holiday that goes by that I am not reminded of her and who she was...
She was loved by all, especially me. Even now so many people tell me how much she meant to them. My uncle reminds me every Christmas how much I look like, sing like, and act like "Bertie." It makes me cry, but also it is an honor to be compared to a lady that I loved so much.
This past Christmas my Aunt Bonnie gave me her hutch that meant so much to her. I will cherish it along with her memory for the rest of my life.
Young and old alike need to spend as much time with their grandparents as possible. For the joy of their company will too soon pass. We need to learn from them and appreciate who they are and what they have been in their lives. We can learn so much from them, by listening to their stories of faith and life experiences.
In II Timothy 1:4...Paul the Apostle spoke of Timothy's unfeigned faith that dwelt first in his grandmother, Lois. He learned how to serve God from his grandmother by what she taught him and by example.
I am so thankful that I had a Christian grandmother who taught me about faith and hospitality by the life she lived in front of me and everyone who had the honor of knowing her.
Young people, don't take your grandparents for granted...love them today and you will love their memory forever.
