What Can We Do to Help?

Matthew 20:34..."So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him"...

Christ had compassion for people...

It seems that natural disasters are becoming more frequent as time goes along...

The stories that are coming out of Haiti have been heart breaking to me. The question is what can we do to help?

Sometimes we feel that we are so far away from the situation that we think there's nothing we can do to help. I think that too often we are not compassionate to the cause. We may even think, there's so many scams out there that we're not giving our
money...

But we as Christians need to first of all pray for those people, then we need to put "legs on our prayers". We need to show an unchristian nation a Christlike spirit.
I would like to encourage every child of God out there to help these people in some way. There are many Christian organizations who are giving to the cause.

I learned today that our Middle School Christian Youth Club is collecting bandages, triple antibiotic cream, latex gloves, beta dine swabs, and bandage tape this week.
They are sending it to Haiti with a pastor in our area who is going there Feb. 1st. It doesn't sound like a lot for such a large disaster, but if we work in our county and other people work in their counties, we can help those people who are in such great need.

My husband, Mark talks about the meaning of compassion often. Compassion is seeing a need, then having a desire to help.

I encourage you to put "legs on your prayers" and help. The cost will not be too great, but showing Christian love to someone in need will not go unrewarded.
