"Light in Darkeness"

A couple of years ago we went to Carter Caves. While touring one of the caves, the guide stopped about half way through the cave. He requested that we turn off our flashlights for a few moments. His point was to show us how dark the cave really was. We couldn't see our hand in front of our face. He then struck a match and it lit up the whole cave.

It was a pretty good illustration of how this world is, a cave of darkness. Do we shine light?

This world is full of darkness. We don't even realize how dark this world really is, but as Christians we are to be the light of the world. We need to realize that people in this world need the light of Jesus Christ shining around them. Just like I didn't realize how dark the cave was, people don't realize the darkness of this world. We need to be like that one little match. We need to light up our world.

I learned a song at a really young age called "This Little Light of Mine." Sometimes I have to remind myself how true I need to make that song in my life.

This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine.
This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine.
This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine.
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.
Hide it under a bushel, no! I'm gonna let it shine...
Won't let Satan blow it out, I'm gonna let it shine...
Let it shine 'til Jesus comes, I'm gonna let it shine...
Remember, we are the light of the world...let your light shine wherever you are.
