Lessons From Kindergarten to a Whole New World

When my daughter, Haley, entered kindergarten in August of 2000, she was very ready for the world of learning. Mrs. Howes was her teacher. She was from the old school of learning.

Around the end of November, Haley was becoming frustrated with her flash cards with words on them. Every night since about the third week of school Mrs. Howes had been sending home these cards and Haley had been saying the words on them over and over. After accumulating about 125 cards Haley became bored and angry with the flash cards.

I remember one evening very vividly her saying, "Mommy, I thought when I went to school I was going to learn how to read a book." I said, "Haley, you are learning to read." She said, " No I'm not! All I have is these old cards!"

I walked over to the table and began to write a story using all of the words that she had been learning. I made it look like a book and took it over to her and sat down. I said, "Haley read me and Markie a story." She said, "Mommy, I can't read." I said, "Open the book Haley." She opened the book and read it to me and her brother.

Then a there her world was forever changed. She realized she could read...

Has God ever brought you to that same realization in your spiritual walk of life?

Sometimes in our walk with God we become lackadaisical in the lessons his gives us on a daily basis. And we may say, "God, I'm following you and nothing is happening in my life."

Then all of a sudden He gives you a spiritual awakening...

Maybe He allows you share a situation that you have been through with someone who is having that problem in their life right now.

You realize God has used you to help them be an overcomer also.

As a child of God there is not a better feeling than knowing that He is using you for His honor and glory. It forever changes the world around you...

Our Heavenly Father don't let us go through lessons of life without rhyme or reason... just like Mrs. Howes, He is preparing us for a whole new world...

For this we can... "Rejoice evermore"...I Thessalonians 5:16
